📊Methodology
OpenChemFacts is a platform dedicated to the assessment of chemical hazards and risks associated with the use of substances.
The platform focuses specifically on aquatic ecotoxicity, evaluating the potential impacts of chemicals on freshwater and marine ecosystems.
Two complementary types of indicators are provided:
Model-based impact indicators, calculated using OpenChemFacts models, enabling the estimation of ecotoxicological impacts for a wide range of substances, including those with limited experimental data.
Consensus-based impact indicators, derived from internationally recognized scientific frameworks, notably the USEtoxmodel and the European Environmental Footprint (EF) method, reflecting declared and peer-reviewed impact factors.
This dual approach ensures both broad coverage and scientific robustness, supporting informed decision-making in chemical risk assessment.
