# REACH (EU)

The **REACH Regulation** (EC No 1907/2006), implemented by the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), provides public access to regulatory dossiers submitted by industry for chemicals manufactured or imported into the European Union.

These dossiers are prepared in the standardized IUCLID format (International Uniform Chemical Information Database), which structures physicochemical, toxicological and ecotoxicological study summaries according to harmonized reporting templates.

### What has been done ?

OpenChemFacts extracts and processes selected publicly accessible information from REACH dossiers relevant to aquatic ecotoxicity assessment.

These sections are the ones providing aquatic ecotoxicity test results :

These data are used to derive harmonized ecotoxicity endpoints and support the calculation of higher-level indicators.

### Data processing

The extracted endpoints are processed through a series of internal workflows, including:

* data harmonization;
* quality and relevance filtering;
* endpoint normalization (conversion of various endpoints to EC10eq values);
* Species Sensitivity Distribution (SSD) modelling;
* derivation of hazard indicators such as **HC20** and **Effect Factors (EF)**.

These indicators enable ecotoxicity characterization for a larger number of substances and facilitate their use in life cycle assessment and other environmental applications.

### Data made available by OpenChemFacts

OpenChemFacts publishes only processed outputs and derived indicators.

The platform does **not** redistribute IUCLID dossiers or reproduce the underlying structured REACH database. Instead, it provides value-added scientific outputs generated from publicly accessible regulatory information.

OpenChemFacts does not claim ownership over the underlying REACH information or associated identifiers.

Certain identifiers and nomenclature elements (such as CAS Registry Numbers) may be subject to third-party intellectual property rights and remain governed by their respective owners.

The indicators published by OpenChemFacts constitute transformed and aggregated outputs intended to support environmental assessment and scientific reuse.
